The question is : Do you have traffic? Do you know how to generate traffic to your blog? Every successful blog has some common factors. I like to mention 8 of them here. They start with defining the purpose the of blog. State clearly what this blog will do for the readers. What is the Benefit for your readers to keep coming for more. Then it is worth the effort promoting and  driving traffic to the blog. Traffic is crucial to your ongoing success at making real money online using a blog or website.

Here are Eight tips to help you build and hold an audience for your blog:

Tip # 1 Provide Quality Content

On the Internet, whether you are blogging or providing info on websites or blogs, a lot of emphasis is placed on content. The content must be relevant to the title of your blog. Google places a lot of emphasis on relevancy of the search results. If someone googles for information on chicken egg and the results of that search come out with websites and blogs on mosquito eggs, I bet that person is going to be upset. This is the same for the other search engines like MSN, Yahoo,..Everyone directs you to provide quality content. But, what is quality content? The quality of your blog’s content is directly related to how well you have defined the purpose of your blog. You want to be congruent in your description of your blog, the title and even the name of your domain.

A successful blog is written with a distinct audience in mind. In this way, you can provide content that is unique to your audience’s issues, needs, or desires. If you create content they like and wish to return to read, you have quality content.

Writing the way you speak is important. It reflects your true self. Your readers will see a real person with real content that is unique. Your style, mannerism and what is on your mind will be transcribed on your posts. Readers will be more receptive to your recommendations. This is the real secret to creating real money online.

Tip #2: Post Frequently

Moat successful bloggers post very often in their blogs. How often do you need to post? I suggest once a day or at least twice a week. There are too many blogs out there competing for attention. Their biggest challenge is to post quality content frequently. When you are able to do that, search engine spiders will crawl to your blog often and give it a better ranking. This is absolutely important to get traffic.

Blogging takes time and commitment. Research and prepare your content in advance. If you are committed to get your articles done, you can do it in two weeks for the entire year. Assuming you write an article of about 600 words, you can break it into two parts and post it a on weekly basic. That would require 26 articles a year. This would give you a head start and a good feeling. Don’t stop there, think of what else you can provide to help your readers, like doing a video to help them to set up a WordPress blog, etc. Very soon you would more articles and short video/audio.

This means you should also try to post at the same time each day. Your readers will get accustomed to your schedule and check your blog at the appropriate time. The time of day is not as crucial as the consistency in your posting.

Since you now have quality content and a regular posting schedule, it’s time to drive traffic to your blog. Your readers will do a lot to promote your blog just by telling their friends. Don’t count on this alone! You need to do some additional work.

When you post, make sure you set your blog to “ping” blog tracking sites every time you add a new post. Think of this as a means to get their attention. The ping says “Hey, we just added a new post”. An alternative to automatically pinging from your blog is to use pingomatic.com. This is a one-stop place to automatically ping everyone you should notify of your new post and only takes a couple of minutes to accomplish. Another place you can ping your post is pingler.com. They will ping to 91 key websites to syndicate your post. Try it out. It is a free service.

Tip #3 Get Yourself A Set Of Golden Keywords

When you are thinking of posting on your blog, the first thing you would need first is not the article but a bunch of keywords with high demand. Like my blog is about making real money online. It is about providing useful and accurately information about making money on line. Of course the keywords in my blog would be about making real money on line.

With those keywords, you would want to optimize your blog title, body, meta tags and url with the right keywords in your post so that search engine will be able to give you better ranking on organic searches.

Make sure your blog is set up in a way that is SEO friendly. I will write about this in my subsequent post on how to customize  your Permalinks in your blog setting that is SEO friendly.

Tip #4 Promote Your Blog Post

Many people who blog online always fail to do this important step and expect a load of traffics coming their way. Unless you let the air out you are not going to breathe in. So let people know about your blog, online and offline.

Mention your blog’s address in your email signature line, in forums where you post, on your business cards, on address labels and in conversations with anyone you meet.

Use a tag line under your blog address to further entice them to visit. Mine reads:
